Many questions have been raised over the years whether Theological Education is important. Some people have argued that "Calling" is enough and they have no need for Theological training. I will give some pointers as to why I believe it is important and get every pastor should consider going for theological training.
Theology Education deals with the teaching and training of men and women the things of God (Theology comes from Greek theos = god and logos = word but because it appears as a suffix to the lexical morpheme of the noun Theos, it means word study of God). This field of study is therefore directly concerned with the study of God, His nature, character, attributes and every knowable aspects of God. This should make everyone desirous to know more about the God they serve, or at least claim to serve.
Here are some general importance of theological training:
Theological training is important in the world today because it provides individuals with an understanding of religious beliefs, practices, and texts. This understanding can help individuals navigate and make sense of the complexities of the world, as well as provide them with tools to engage in theological reflection, ethical decision-making, and spiritual growth.
Additionally, theological training can also equip individuals with the skills to work in religious leadership roles, such as serving as a minister, rabbi, or imam, or to work in fields such as religious education or chaplaincy.
It can also help one to understand and engage in interfaith dialogue and social justice issues which are becoming more relevant in today's globalized society. With that said however, here are some specific reasons why pastors should get trained.
Specific reasons for pastors and church leaders to get Bible training:
Pastors should get trained in the Bible because it is the foundation of their religious beliefs and practices. You cannot claim to love and want to serve the Lord and disregard His Word or reject the opportunity to be equipped in understanding His Word.
A strong understanding of the Bible allows pastors to effectively communicate its message to their congregation and provide guidance and counsel based on its teachings.
Training in the Bible can also help pastors to better understand the historical and cultural context in which the texts were written, which can deepen their understanding and interpretation of the Bible.
Bible training enable pastors to be more equipped to deal with theological questions and controversies that may arise within the congregation.
It also helps them to be more effective in their preaching and teaching, as they can connect the biblical message to the needs of their congregation.
In brief, a solid biblical training helps pastors to be more effective in fulfilling their role and call as spiritual leaders of the congregation. I want to encourage you to invest in theological education whether you are pastor, church leader, or not.

Take time to read it if you need more reasons why you should be equipped in the Bible, or if you want to learn more about false teachers and how to discern them.
