Many of us live in crowded cities and town centers. The noise from the factories, vibration and pollution from cars and motorcycles makes it seem impossible at times to remember the beautiful creations of God, or even to catch a breath. Your daily mundane tasks may weigh you down greatly, the weight of the world that probably rest on your shoulders may be too demanding. You might feel like you are about to break down, and left on your own, you are right in feeling this way.
God never created us to be a working machine or live like robots. The Sabbath day was instituted for a reason. The reason for the Sabbath is not that God needed to rest, He sure was not tired after His six days of creation because we know that He is sustaining the universe by the power of His Word (Hebrews 1:3) and that in Christ Jesus His Son everything holds together (Colossians 1:17). So why was the day of rest given, was it for God to rest, No, it was given because God knew we needed the rest. This is why God gave it as a command latter on to the Nation of Israel. Here is one simple truth, human beings need to rest.
Here is my recommendation for you, take the weekend off, or use you off days and go to the Lake site, go to a river bank, go to the beach if you have access to one, go to a garden, sit under the trees and feel the breeze. Feel the freshness of God's creation, hear the birds singing to their maker. If you can, take a walk in the forest; wherever you are experience God's beauty in nature. Let the natural creation remind you of the things you have long forgotten, or has been taking for granted. If you are giving an excuse for not taking a break, I will say this again, God did not create us to be a work machine, human beings need to rest. Take one today and Experience God's beauty in nature.
